Bustin’ My…

…maybe I'd better just say I'm not here today. I'm over at Rick Leonard's guest blogging! C'mon over. You know you want to. Even you –  the guy that hates to follow links. C'mon… just once? It'll be fun. I promise. It won't hurt a bit. Just move over the words "Rick Leonard" and click. Just once. See? Wasn't that easy? Oh. You're reading this. That means you're still here. Why are you here? You didn't click? What is wrong with you? I said it would be easy… geez. Pretty please? Pretty please with Splenda on top (see how us diabetics have incorporated everyday things into our lives?)…

If you're still here. I suppose I'll just see you tomorrow. Back here. Same time, same place. Still? You're missing out…  I just had to say that.

btw – I'm still open to your suggestions about how to handle comments, but I will tell you that there is now a place to click in the comments that will give you RSS feed for comments. You know, just in case you want to see what everyone else says or if I happen to respond via comments. That is all.

Interviews! *Updated Again*

Go check out these wonderful answers to the questions these people were brave enough to request! Everyone has answered so far except Heather and she's probably having too much fun at the bottom of the ocean, so we'll give her a pass (for now).

Nat – From Nat's Brain

Olivia – Olivia Kroth Blog

Carrie (aka Emma Liar) – Trivial Lies

Michael – Recipes for Life Gossip

Thanks everyone for playing!

*Update* I think I've got the links fixed. Sorry, folks…. I AM human. *gasp*  Everyone should be able to see Olivia's English blog now, and Michael really DOES exist. Honest. In case you missed it in the comments, Heather says she's working on it… I'll keep checking on her progress. 😉  Oh, and I've had another taker! Will let you know when I have more linky goodness for you.

Lydia has answered questions from Olivia – go on over and check 'em out.

Heather has finished her questions, too!  Go see… what are you waiting for? I said GO… geez…

Katie found my questions on Heather's blog and answered them, so it is only fair I send you to read her answers too!

Interview #2

Once again I got sucked in volunteered to be interviewed. This time by KimmyK. Here goes!

1-Tomorrow your memory is wiped clean.  You are only allowed to take one memory with you into your new day-what memory are you keeping safe. Only one, huh? Yikes. It would have to be a memory of a family dinner with all my kids and their significant others sitting around the table wise-cracking and laughing and carrying on with all the critters hovering for dropped tidbits. It would be one of the only times when all my favorite people and critters are all in the same place at the same time and are enjoying each other. I'm so lucky to have those times.

2-You claim to have ESP.  Tell us an experience in which you did or didn't listen to your inner voice and you wish you would have. When I knew my current husband was "the one" despite all my practical arguments to the contrary. I'm really glad I listened.

3-You've been blogging for over three years.  How have you changed since writing that first post to your most current? I have gotten braver in what I'll say and how much of my true self I'll reveal. I'm not so afraid to be opinionated.

4-Do you believe in Heaven? If so, describe your Heaven. I have to. It has been one of my sustaining things throughout my life that someday I'll 'see' my mother again (she died when I was three) as well as other people I have loved and lost. I also would hope to see my sweet critters that have gone before. I would hope that the people I've had disagreements with or strained relationships with would be if not pleasant, at least tolerable to be around. A place of joy. Where pain and hurt no longer were a part of anyone's life.

5-You get to spend a day with someone from your past.  This person can be alive or passed on.  Who are you spending your day with and what are you going to do?  I want to spend the day with my paternal grandmother. She and my grandfather took me in when my mother got ill (and eventually passed) and kept me for a couple of years until my father remarried. She's been dead since I was in my teens. I always felt close to her as a surrogate mother – closer than I do to the woman my father married, even though after I didn't live with them any longer I only had a few visits in the summertimes. What would I want to do? Just talk. She was a mom of four, two boys and two girls, just like I am. I would like to ask her things about her life and her feelings and just get to know her as a person better. I thought she was taken too soon.

There you have it! If you are a glutton for punishment want to participate, let me know and I'll try to come up with some profound things to ask you!

Eight Random (Crafty) from Kathy

Kathy hit me with this one (again?) Since she is so crafty, I'm going to lean this one toward my crafty side.

Eight random things:

1.) I hate the actual process of whatever craft I'm doing… I just enjoy the final piece

2.) I used to make all my own clothing when I was in junior high and high school. This included underwear, bras, and swimsuits. My mother took a special class to learn how to sew all these things and she taught me.

3.) I have three sewing machines and the last thing I made was a stuffed bunny for my grandson Easter…um…2002?

4.) I love to paint (the art kind) but can't do life-like pictures from 'scratch'. However, if I copy a print I can do an excellent reproduction.

5.) I enjoy rubber stamping and entered several projects in the state fair competition three years ago. I didn't win anything, but still thought my projects were better than the ones that won.

6.) I cross-stitch but don't do it the traditional way. I don't "poke" and "pull" my needle, but use a sewing motion. (Someone is out there going, wha?…can't explain it any better than that, sorry.)

7.) I enjoy photography but can't seem to ever get the shots I want. Could it be my perfectionism kicking in?

8.) I took home ec in high school but already knew all they taught. I knew how to cook at an early age and although I don't expand to new recipes very often, I've been told I'm a good cook.

Because It Is Monday and I’m a Lazy Sack of Shit

We're always learning more about each other, aren't we? Be sure and let me know if you do it. Sorry, Siz… I kinda DID put you on the spot with this one…

Becky Has Questions… I Have Answers

I have to admit I volunteered for this. What was I thinking? Thanks Becky for going easy on me!
    1.  You live in a really rural area — do you ever wish you lived in a city and if so, where would that be? Nope. I've been there and done that and didn't find it very much fun. I was raised in a big city and lived in smaller towns and by far this is my favorite of all.  I occasionally think it would be nice to live close enough to have pizza delivery or to be able to have faster internet service, but then I realize it isn't that important. I'm happy with all the good things I get out of this location. I will have to say, when I first moved to the country I thought it was waaaay too dark, and waaaay too quiet. It spooked me if I couldn't see the lights of town shining in the distance. Now? Some days I wish we were even further out.
    2.  What's the best advice/guidance you've given yourself? Trust yourself. Trust your own instincts, not go by what someone else says. Doesn't mean I'm good at doing this, but in the couple of times it really counted it worked. (That made me sound really wise, didn't it? I'm not. Honest.Just think you have to trust your gut in most things.)
    3.  What's a particular topic of conversation that usually gets you "going" in that you just have to say something? LOL… where do I start? Probably the one that gets me going fastest is when people complain about food prices going up and blame the farmer for it. Trust me, the farmer isn't the one seeing the huge profit increase. It's the middle-man. I'll stop now before I get on my soap-box. Oh, and I also get pretty riled up about animal abuse. I'm not a fan of PETA but there are some people who I'd like to give a taste of their own medicine when it comes to how they treat the critters. A couple of other things get me going, but I'd say those are the biggies. (Hubs would be so proud… coming from growing up a "townie" to standing up for the farmer. Wow. Amazing…)
    4. Is there something in particular that you like to collect? Hubs would say critters Wink.  In my younger days I had a type drawer and collected tiny things to put it in, but that was in my "country" phase and now am more modern in my taste (my modern and my country always clashed) so those things have been put in storage. I'm kind of a pack-rat, but not really anything in particular – more like lots of "stuff" in general. Probably my biggest collection (unintentionally) would have to be books. I can't get rid of a book after I've read it – unless, of course, it belongs to someone else! I have huge bookcases in the new house and am wishing I'd added more. Maybe someday… (you listening, Hubs?)
    5.  Have you ever seen Children of the Corn, and if so, has it made you afraid of cornstalks at night? Of COURSE I saw it. I'm not sure if it was re-released, or re-made or whatever. I saw the original one in black and white. Pretty creepy stuff. It never made me afraid of the corn – although I've heard stories of children and animals getting lost in the cornfields, so was always careful not to let the kids or pups go in them. As far as worrying about something come out of the corn? I relate more in a positive way with "Field of Dreams"… where the players came out of the corn. I look at it as a pretty benevolent thing and love hearing the corn grow and rustle in the summertime and smelling the damp earth after it rains. Yes, you CAN actually hear it grow, weird as that seems…
If anyone else wants to play, let me know and I'll try and think up some deep questions to probe your mind!

Procrastination at Its Finest – A Bunch of Fives Meme

(I was supposed to do this a long time ago, but got side-tracked. )
I was innocently reading a blog when WHAM! I got tagged. (Silly me… I'm going to do it anyway.)
    A Bunch of Fives Meme
Instructions: Remove the blog from the top, move all blogs up one, add yourself to the bottom.

I'm supposed to tag five people. I'm not gonna. If you want to do it. let me know… I just thought I'd do it and spare you another rant today.

    A Bunch of Fives
What were you doing 10 years ago? I was working full-time on the farm helping Hubs after his father had passed away a short two years before. Dreaming of a new house but never imagining it was going to happen a few years down the road. Probably working in the gardens and flowerbeds that were at the old house – I had several.

What were you doing 1 year ago? Working at the same place I do now (a farm fertilizer/chemical plant) and helping Hubs with the farm. Doing more things to the yard now that we'd lived there a year and the soil had finally loosened up a bit after being packed rock-hard during construction. The deer and bunnies hadn't found us yet. Oh, and getting used to having youngest daughter living back home after her divorce.

Five Snacks You Enjoy: Remember, this is ENJOY, not that I can HAVE (I'm diabetic). Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, hot chocolate.

Five Songs That You Know All The Lyrics To: None. I know lots of pieces of songs, but not one song that I know ALL the words to…well, maybe "Happy Birthday" – Does that count?
Five Things You Would Do If You Were a Millionaire: You know, a million doesn't go as far as it used to, right? For me to do some of these things it would take being a "mulit-millionaire". Work from home (or quit), pay off all our debts, set up some financial security for our children, have a greenhouse and indoor swimming pool complex built at our house, have or support a no-kill animal shelter.

Five bad habits: Amazing how many things I had in common with Cindi! Biting my nails, overeating, procrastination, worrying (is that a habit?) Cindi, for sake of the meme I'll say YES, and last but not least…getting pissed at my in-laws.

Five Things You Like To Do: In no particular order – Read (anything), play World of Warcraft, crafty-stuff (that would be five on their own), play with my critters, play with my husband (get your minds out of the gutter…I swear you are a randy bunch!)
Five Things You Would Never Wear Again: A wedding dress (been there, done that), high heels (I fall down, seriously…), a bikini, thongs (flip-flops to you youngsters – no, not that I would wear one of "those" thongs, either.), anything yellow.

Five Favorite Toys: I'm gonna answer as an adult 'cause I can't remember all the stuff I liked as a kid. Computer, camera, iPod, my VW Beetle, my critters (If I counted all the critters I'd be over 5 to start with… so I lumped 'em together)
Okay, go and have fun now – if you decide to do this let me know so I can come find out more about YOU!
